How to use the Convert PNG to SVG for Silhouette Cameo — Free Vectorizer

Use Case

For Silhouette Cameo crafters who want to import a PNG as a true cut path in Silhouette Studio without trace-and-cut hassles or the paid Designer Edition.

Privacy

Silhouette Studio's basic edition can't directly cut a PNG and its built-in trace can be fiddly, so converting your PNG to a real SVG first gives Cameo a clean cut path every time. This tool does that locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded, so your paid and personal designs stay private. For Cameo cutting we default numColors to a low 6 so the image separates into a few clean, cuttable layers rather than a noisy pile of shades that the blade can't follow. A raised pathomit strips out the tiny floating bits that turn weeding into a chore, while tight ltres and qtres keep the cut contours smooth so the Cameo blade traces a crisp edge. Import the finished SVG straight into Silhouette Studio, resize it, and send it to cut. For single-color vinyl lettering and decals, drop numColors to 2 for the cleanest possible path; for layered cardstock or multi-color HTV, raise it so each color you intend to cut sits on its own separate layer.
