When a face comes out soft — from a focus miss, motion, heavy compression, or a low-resolution crop — a normal sharpen filter just adds harsh edges without bringing the face back. AI face restoration reconstructs the actual facial features instead, so a blurry face becomes clear and natural. This tool finds the face, restores it with a face-trained model, and blends it back into your photo at the original dimensions — nothing is enlarged and the rest of the image stays exactly as it was, all locally in your browser with nothing uploaded. Being honest about the limits: the model rebuilds plausible detail rather than recovering the exact original, so a restored face is a faithful likeness that may differ slightly from the source, and a face that's extremely tiny or almost entirely lost gives the model little to work with. It shines on typical softness and moderate blur where a real face is still visible. If no face is detected, restoration is skipped and you're told — the deconvolution-based sharpen here works on any image. The face model downloads once (about 325MB) and is cached afterward.
